A little more about us and the people of InsideOut
We specialise in creating interesting small buildings for people who want the best.
We work closely with each of client, exchanging ideas and making each step of the process clear and straightforward.
All buildings are constructed with environmentally considerate materials and are energy efficient. Our architect demands exceptionally high standards of construction and our foreman is always determined to exceed them.
Last year we built from the Isle of Islay in the North to the edge of Chichester harbour in the South and many places in between.
Location: our team is spread around the country making it easy for us to respond to enquiries in all areas.

In 2002 InsideOut’s directors, Gordon and Lynn, designed and built their own garden office as a studio for Gordon’s architectural practice and for Lynn’s design business. Gordon has always had a love of timber frame buildings and building his own office has fulfilled a long term dream.
Soon after moving in to their office they realised they could build similar buildings for other people and InsideOut Buildings was born.
Project manager – Lynn Fotheringham
Lynn is the person who listens to you, answers your questions and makes your building project happen. From the first visit to meet you and see your garden, through to handing over the keys when the building is finished, she looks after you and your project.
Architect – Gordon Smith RIBA
Gordon is the company architect. He comes to the site visit to find out exactly what you want and to survey your garden. Gordon designs all the offices and annexes – including the groundworks, drainage and plumbing. He also negotiates with planning departments and makes building regulations applications, where necessary.
Gordon and Lynn are the people who will visit you when you request a site visit. They’re involved with your project at every stage and will be there on the first day of the building work to ensure all materials are delivered correctly, and ensure the building team are clear about every aspect of the build.
