Our History

Gordon Smith RIBA and Lynn Fotheringham started and ran the market-leading garden offices company InsideOut Buildings in 2002. They spent ten years designing and building top-of-the-range garden rooms from the Isle of Islay in the North to the edge of Chichester harbour in the South and many places in between.

We had a lot of fun. We learnt a lot about different areas of the UK. We met and worked with a lot of warm and wonderful clients who still stay in touch with us. But, after these ten years we decided it was time to stop travelling the length and breadth of the country.

We have now stopped building to concentrate on our architectural practice.

Lynn Fotheringham

Not wanting their knowledge to go to waste, Lynn launched the InsideOut Garden Buildings Guide in 2012. The site quickly grew and became recognised as a leading authority within the garden room industry.

In 2021, the site joined Northern Lake Digital and rebranded to Garden Room Hub.
