An InsideOut garden room provides living space for every life stage. A detached garden space where family members can spend time together; entertaining friends or spend time alone with homework, hobbies, or having an afternoon nap. A special building for a special purpose.

Our housing-standard buildings are not hot summer houses or damp cabins. We design and build them for all year round use and our clients use them in different ways: -

People with a small house often move one of the house functions out into the garden.  E.g the washing machine, the piano or the sofa bed.
 
People with larger houses still don’t necessarily have the right combination and arrangement of rooms: -
  • We have built playrooms to give younger children independence
  • A garden hideaway where grandad can escape for some peace and quiet when the grand children come round
  • A hobby room for playing historical war games
  • A music room to house a prized LP collection. The list goes on…
We build garden rooms for people whose gardens are remote from their house, so that they can spend all day in the garden, even in winter.

A garden room designed for your lifestyle


Each building is designed by our experienced architect to meet the individual needs of the owners. There's a simple set of qestions to ask yourself:
  • How big do I want it to be?
  • Whereabouts in the garden?
  • How will I use my garden room?
  • Traditional, cosy feel with smaller windows and a home-from-home front door...
  • or a contemporary feel with modern, floor to ceiling windows, windows in the roof and bigger-the-better French doors!
Never need replacing -  We believe that living space in the garden should be built to last. InsideOut buildings are constructed in the same way as a timber frame house extension, but detached.

Eco-friendly - We avoid chemicals and plastics wherever possible. We build using natural materials and UK grown heartwood larch.

As warm as a new house -  We use 200mm layers of  insulation so that  your garden room needs only  one small heater to warm it in the winter and doesn't need air-conditioning or artificial cooling in the summer.

Multi-purpose - Whatever purpose you have in mind for your garden room,  our architect will have a good understanding of your requirements... architects, like our buildings, tend to mature well.
