Positioning your office in a larger garden.

In a larger garden: -

In a larger garden you have more choice of position for your building.  You have the opportunity to consider if you want to see the office from the house, hide it away to one side, or screen it off completely in its own section of the garden.

One consideration in a larger garden is how far do you want to walk?

If the garden slopes, how much landscaping and levelling do you want to undertake? [We can help you with this] If you want to include a loo or shower room, the further the office is from the main sewer, the more expensive the ground works will be.

If you want to landscape your garden and add area of decking, it is best to design and plan this once your building is in situ. This way you can work with the reality of the building rather than having to imagine the total look.

If your office has a floor area of more than 15sq metres and you want to  position it witih a metre from any boundary, the building will require a building regulations application. All garden offices and annexes with a floor space of more than 30 sq metres need a building regulations application, wherever they are positioned. Do you know the difference between building regs and planning permission? – find out here.

Local authority Building Regulations applications are expensive – expect to pay approximately £1000 including structural engineers drawings. If your building does need to make a building regulations application we do it for you as part of our service.
NB. All our buildings meet current Building Regulation standards.
